How Do I Find My Life Purpose?

The Gravel Path that I walk my dog on everyday.Every now and then I get the urge to follow a new path. I think that this passion for writing is never going to get me anywhere and that because it’s not showing the kind of financial gains that I need to live, it never will.

It took a good nights sleep to get over this train of thought, but yesterday I spend an inappropriate amount of time trying to think about what I want to do with my life. I was struggling to figure out what purpose I could possibly have in my life that would make me feel fulfilled and happy.

I have studied the topic extensively and this is what I have learned about finding purpose in life. You need to follow your passion, do what you love and you will love what you do. This might sound a little cliche but it’s true. You just need to have a hobby that you turn into a career. There a lot of people on YouTube that play video games to make money. To me, this might be one of the greatest jobs on the planet.

Another way that I learned about how to follow your purpose in life and enjoy every minute of “work”, is to get outside of your comfort zone. If you are doing the same things over and over again, how are you going to know that you like something if you never try it. Sorry if I sound like your mom trying to get you to eat broccoli, but trying new things can be even better than broccoli.

I watched a video where the talker told the audience the say their name, what they loved to do, who they loved to do it for and why they love to do it. This was his way of getting people to figure out their own life purpose in five minutes. I stalled at the second question. I had no idea what I love to do.

Last night, right before bed, I was tired and because I hadn’t done any real work for the day I wanted to get something done but I was far to tired and cranky to remember just how much I love communicating through writing. To me this is pleasurable. Some people might not like it but I think it is a marvelous thing and as long as I keep at it, I will be great. What a difference a day makes.

There is a tree hanging in front of the path. Luckily it is not too big and there is a way around it.

Before I continue on about my first world problems, I want to let you know that there are more ways to figure out what you want to do with the rest of you life. Another way to figure that out is to do anything. Just get started. Go out and do something. Just get started because it might lead to something else that you love. You could go out and be a welder, only to realize that you love being a carpenter instead. This change is trades might cause you to enjoy a happier existence than most people will ever know.

On the subject of liking what you do, that is all a matter of perspective. Your attitude will determine how much you like your job. You might feel highs and lows from one day to the next but as long as you remember the good times and feelings that you associate with that particular line of work, you will not hate your working existence.

Finding purpose in life is not just about living a comfortable life though. Some people out there know that helping people in need is one of the most rewarding things that they can do. This isn’t easy though. Many people give up a comfortable life to fly to war zones and help the people that are in the most danger. These amazing volunteers are in extreme danger and there are numerous news stories about them getting kidnapped and killed, but the ones that survive, return with stories of achievement, accomplishment, and knowing that they made a difference in the world. Do you think that their life purpose is fulfilled?

One more thing that you can do to find a purpose in this life is to keep learning. Learn something new everyday. Read a book, learn about the world around you, enjoy learning for the pure joy of enlightenment. Remember that it is okay to be smart. Knowledge is power, but the application of knowledge will take you anywhere.

So now that you hopefully know your purpose in life you should also know that, although it might seem like a monumental task has been laid out in front of you, take it one small step at a time and you can climb any mountain and eat any elephant.
