Everyone Gets A Soapbox

I would seem that with the massive expansion and development of the internet and blogging platforms, everyone has a place to spew whatever nonsense they want into the ether.

This is unfortunate because far too much of what humanity has to offer is complete crap. Not because of a lack of quality, but a lack of heart is the problem in most of the online experiences that are on offer. It seems that everything that is out there only exists to make a profit. The music, videos, the pictures, everything, they are all branded with some form of profit making device that robs the artist of a little bit of their soul.

I am aware of the fact that art needs to sell in order to prevent the starvation of its creators, but there should still be an experience, art form or anything that is on offer purely for the fact that it is going to enrich an exhausted consumer culture.

I know that this sounds bitter and guess what, it is. Nihilism runs through my veins right along side the disgust for a consumer culture that is constantly looking for new entertainment.

Where Am I Leading You?

What I am saying is that you should be creating just for the sheer joy of putting your heart into something. I personally have a book in my car that I take on adventures with my and I write. I write when I’m sad, I write when i’m happy and I write some thing almost everyday. The most important part is that I write in ink. This is because it is not a message of insightful comment for anyone else except myself. It can’t be digitized, transferred or sold, it is just my thoughts in a more substantial form that electrical impulses skittering across 1.5 kg of grey matter.

So don’t delay, find your love, your passion and throw yourself so completely at it that you want to forget the rest of existence in order to create a better reality through experiences.
